INTRODUCTION

The Top Taiwan Handcraft Arts (TTHA) was founded in 2019 by three units, Taiwan Crafts Workshop, YII, and Taiwan Good Craft, jointly, under the guidance of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, Ministry of Culture, to enhance the competitiveness of the craft industry through Taiwan’s “all the various craft works”.

The main purpose of the establishment of TTHA is to provide Taiwanese craftspersons with domestic and overseas marketing strategies, including exhibitions, online marketing, organization and training and so on, so that the collective power can be gained to let good products of the craftspersons be seen and the good business be developed sustainably.

The association has held four general meetings to date, with Mr. Li Mingsong serving as the current chairman. For the past six years, under the leadership of founding chairman Mr. Ye Zhicheng and former chairman Mr. Liao, the association has actively promoted its various affairs. In addition to continuously dedicating itself to the research, promotion, marketing, and exchange activities of various crafts, it has also been committed to the promotion and dissemination of Taiwanese crafts under the guidance of the Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center. It has actively engaged in the marketing of the craft industry and participated in various large-scale exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Due to the impact of the pandemic, recent exhibitions have primarily focused on domestic events, such as the 2022 Taiwan Top Craftsmen’s New Creation Exhibition (Changhua Art Museum), the 2021 Taiwan International Tea Expo (Taipei Nangang), and the 2021 Peak of Excellence Art Exhibition (Caotun Craft Center).

Since its establishment, the association has participated in the Suzhou Creative Expo, the Jingdezhen Tea Expo, the Jingdezhen Ceramic Art Autumn Exhibition, the Xi’an Zhongda Department Store Taiwan Top Crafts Exhibition, the Jiangsu Salt Lake City Crafts Exhibition, and the Xi’an Zhongda Department Store Artist Sharing Session. It has also conducted preliminary exhibitions in Nanjing, Hebei, Shenzhen, Harbin, Xiamen, Jinjiang, and Xi’an. In addition, we remain committed to actively participating in various exhibitions held throughout Taiwan, such as the Lifestyle Exhibition, the Tea Expo, and the Craft Center’s Pinnacle Exhibition. This allows more people from home and abroad to get closer to Taiwanese crafts, and the integration, deepening, and revitalization of crafts in daily life enriches people’s spiritual lives and enhances cultural quality.

There are currently 56 members of TTHA, including many outstanding craftspersons. They are expert in creation of various crafts, have had good performances in various craft competitions, and serve as judges of various competitions. We look forward to the continuous support and encouragement from all walks of life, and welcome to join TTHA as members. Let us work together to promote the development of our country’s crafts!
